This game worth the price of a ticket!!

What an exciting game the girls played this morning against Tyreso, a team from Stockholm! This was a physically tough team and very quick to the ball. We had numerous opportunities to score in the first half, but were unable to finish. Jordon did a great job in the goal communicating to her players on the field, letting them know what was happening and what they should be doing. First half ended 0-0 leaving us all breathless. Second half it seemed Tyreso was on the offensive and we appeared a step or so behind, but were still working hard. After a few minutes it seemed the girls got themselves organized and were, once again, creating opportunities. Then, during an offensive play by Tyreso, Emily White went in hard to defend against a couple of players near the ball and a collision followed. No foul was involved, but a Swedish player went down screaming in agony. After about 10 minutes she was taken off on a stretcher with her knee wrapped up. I do not like seeing any player tear up a knee and so we hope it is nothing serious. Play resumed with the same intensity as before and time was running out. We were making great runs only to be denied. They, also, were pressing hard at the goal and our defense was holding, though there were some scary moments. Then, Amanda made a run diagonally down toward the right side, though I dont remember who sent her the pass, it was beautiful! She took the ball a bit further and sent it toward the goal..........the keeper came out to get it, but somehow it got past and continued to roll toward the goal. We all held our breath as it rolled and rolled and rolled!! It was right on and rolled in the the left side netting of the goal!! Score 1-0!!! Things really got intense after that as the Swedish team started to really pour it on and pressure the goal. Several scary moments as they had the ball in our end and were too close for comfort. At one point, Jordan made a beautiful high jumping save while under pressure from several players. In the end, we were able to hold defensively for the win. After the game, I told coach it was a good thing we had a heart doc as a coach for many of us felt our hearts had been stressed tremendously during this game. He said ''yea, but whose going to take care of me?'' I hope, in his blog, he tells all of you what he told the girls after the game........ about what they proved today.

Picture are to follow once we figure out a way to do it!!

Signing off!!
